A MESSAGE FROM SENIOR PASTORS BILL & LYNNA ROBERTS
a LETTER FROM CHRIST CHAPEL MINISTRIES
March 13, 2020
Dear Christ Chapel Family:
I want to thank you for your prayers during my recent trip to Nepal and India and to let you know I have arrived home safely early this week. I also want to inform you that at the last minute, Lynna, based on advice from our children, canceled her trip to Seattle. Nevertheless, because of the distance and location of my travels, we have opted to self-quarantine and remain so for another week. Please know, however, that I am personally directing matters relating to Christ Chapel’s response to the Coronavirus challenges facing our church, community, nation, and world.
So much has occurred in the past few days and much more is on the horizon. As was expressed in our services last Sunday, we need in such uncertain times to be reminded of the power of God’s love and that Christ Chapel will always default to leading with a spirit of faith and community.
At the same time, it is essential that as we continue to follow the news about the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we take the necessary and appropriate precautions. Similarly, we realize you may have questions and concerns about what this may mean for you, your family and your church and it is my intent to address them as they arise.
The leadership of Christ Chapel wants to assure you that we are closely monitoring the situation, considering advice from government officials and medical professionals, and taking all necessary precautions. As always, our main goal is to provide a safe and healthy environment for worship and fellowship.
As a church family, we are concerned about one another’s spiritual, emotional and physical well- being.
Obviously, issues such as those we are facing affect all three areas. It is our intent to help one another stay above the fray and remain victorious throughout the crisis. To accomplish this, we are continuously reviewing our programs as follows:
Worship Services and Events:
Effective Sunday, March 15th in order to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus, church service WILL NOT be held on campus but we will have a virtual service online, via Facebook at facebook.com/christchapellife/ and on our website at www.christchapellife.org at 8:30 AM & 11:00 am
Wednesday nights are curtailed until further notice. In the meantime, we have provided an alternative way for you and your family to grow closer to God and learn more about Him. Palm Sunday weekend events to include our musical/dramatic presentation and children’s event have been postponed to a date to be determined. Some components of the programs will be included in Easter Sunday Morning services.
As of right now, Easter Sunday Services will be held at 6:30 AM (Outdoor), 8:30 AM, and 11:00 AM.
As we continue to welcome one another and enjoy meaningful times of prayer and worship with friends and family, we encourage you to do so responsibly. If you have a fever or any potential symptoms as described by the (CDC) or Virginia Department of Health (VDH), please remain at home and seek appropriate medical attention.
You can also participate with us online at our:
Even though we are not gathering in-person for church, you still have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others by giving your tithes and offerings through our giving page at https://www.christchapellife.org/give
The above are only a few things we are doing to ensure safe and meaningful worship. Additional actions will be shared with regular updates from our Communications Office.
In closing, please note that as we take practical steps corporately and personally to address the Coronavirus issue, we must keep in mind that we are “fighting” a spiritual battle. Therefore, it is imperative that we pray for those who are anxious and fearful. We must also pray for believers to demonstrate the love of Christ during these challenging times and stand on His Word. Lastly, we must pray for those who are afflicted with coronavirus or other debilitating illnesses.
“God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Tim 1:7
“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
"Search me, O God and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life." Psalm 139:23-24
