COVID-19 Church Update
May 31, 2020
Dear Christ Chapel Family:
As you are aware, we have now been meeting online for over 2 ½ months due to governmental stay at home orders and more importantly in order to protect God’s precious congregation at Christ Chapel, from the COVID-19 pandemic. It appears now, that in our area, some of the restrictions and rules associated with COVID mitigation efforts are being relaxed. Businesses and other venues to include some churches are beginning to reopen this weekend provided they implement strict mitigation efforts to include social distancing, occupancy restrictions, masking, and extensive hygiene and cleanliness standards. Although we too look forward to on-campus occupancy in the not too distant future, we do not believe that the time has yet come.
At Christ Chapel, many of our congregants are in what has been described as an “at-risk population”. This necessitates our taking added care by daily assessing the risks and trends of COVID-19 in local and surrounding communities. These relevant, up to date factors must be taken into consideration as we formulate a return to campus strategy that will minimize risk and ensure to the best of our ability, safety for you and yours.
As the strategy develops, we will be sure to share with you updates through e-mail, our website, text, and social media channels. We want our future campus worship experience to be awesome while at the same time ensuring that all possible COVID-19 or other infectious diseases health concerns are properly mitigated. Like the Psalmist, we certainly are looking forward to, “Entering his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; giving thanks to him and praising his name” (Psalm 100:4).
In the meantime, even though we are not quite ready to reoccupy campus facilities, we remain the church actively engaged in ministry. We are continuing to distribute food to families struggling with hunger, to the homeless, shut-ins, and others. We have taken advantage of technology to offer our Life University classes, special Bible studies such as Anxious for Nothing, Zoom prayer meetings, Children and Youth programs, Life Groups meetings, and of course our ongoing worship and devotional experiences. Please continue or expand your participation in these ongoing and yet soon to be announced new ministry opportunities that the Lord has opened amid this pandemic.
